API Textbook of Medicine (2 Volumes), 9th Edition (PDF Free Download)

I got to know about this book only recently. Till then, I thought there was no Indian equivalent of Harrison's. It was either Harrison's or Davidson's for Internal Medicine. But when I saw this book, I was very excited. It looks like a very comprehensive book of Medicine on par with any international textbook of Medicine, but with an added "Desi" touch. You see, Whatever you say about Western authors and all, in the end, almost everyone ends up using an Indian book. I don't see why people think of Indian books as inferior. It's true that some books contain a lot of mistakes and inaccuracies but that is not true for all. In fact, some Indian books can be argued to be way better than their Western counterparts.

Now that's not to say that this book is better than Harrison's, I'm not comparing the two books. I'm just saying that there is something about Indian books that suits us Indians (or I should use the word Desi, which can include our neighbours like Pakistan, Bangladesh etc. who are all almost the same). May be the Indian authors know how the Indian education system works, they know that we are supposed to remember things, that memory is given a preference over understanding, that the exams we write are long essay type stuff in which things have to be well organised into headings and points. No Western author will get this because their exam system is different. And it's not just the exam system, it's also our way of thinking, the way Indian authors write, it is just easier for us to get into our minds.

Now, I digress. I didn't write anything about this book at all. Well it's also because I haven't used it much. It's upto you guys to decide. I expect it to be a good book considering it is in its 9th edition and has a whole Association of Physicians as its author.
